Spam texts from name no number

Jonbris

I get daily spam texts from names like ‘Sara’ advertising gambling services amongst others. I can’t report them to 7726 because there is no number attached, just the name.

How can I stop this? I don’t want to mute them because they still come up at the top of my inbox constantly.

Yes, you can! Hold down on the msg & you'll get a menu offering you "Forward".

Ok, so when it asks me for a number and I just send ‘crowns’ how does that help?

Hi @Jonbris.

The number you would forward the spam message to is 7726.

This is so it can be investigated further.

You won't be asked for any further details when you forward a message on.

Jon

FYI Your advice has not helped.

the issue here is I get regular spam texts from a name that has no number. To be super clear here, there is no number associated with the contact, it would just be ‘Emma’ and a spam message. If I try and call the number the phone is greyed out as there is no number. When I go to the contact for it, there’s no information at all except ‘emma’

i have spoken to Apple about this and it is EE who are allowing these spam texts through. There’s nothing I can do my end except block all unknown contacts which wouldn’t work because I get verification texts through that I need to respond to.

I get several of these spam messages a day, all written in your normal spam language, but all from slightly different names, so I cannot delete or block them (not that it would work anyway because there’s nothing to block, I couldn’t even add them as a contact).

I have forwarded all of these to 7726 and it has done nothing so far. Any help on this anyone? Or do I just have to leave EE?

Do what we all do. Ignore them once you have reported them to your network provider. Leave it to them. There's nowt more you can do.

Leanne.

What use can forwarding them to 7726 have when I don’t have anything to forward except the text itself? Why do ee allow spammers to send texts without a number on their network? Is there not some protocol that has been abused to allow this?
