Got a call earlier today from the following number 01997 617 136 (Strathpeffer, Scotland) wherein a woman told me I was eligible for a promotion - asked how much I was currently paying for my service and then proceeded to say I’m eligible for a price reduction for one year.
she then put me through to a “manager” of some sort who asked what the name is linked to the account. I responded that I don’t feel comfortable sharing the info as they should have it on record, the call was then cut off on their end - no greetings or “sorry for any inconvenience caused”.

Well, you've only got to phone it back to discover it doesn't exist. Obviously a scam!

Could you clarify how that helps in solving it. I’ve only recently moved to the UK which is why I find this a bit confusing. Do they disconnect the number they call from as soon as they finish?

Never deal with people cold calling you. Even if EE decide to phone with a great offer, call them back on a known number.
Unless you know a company is going to call you, assume they are trying to scam you.

Well, it solves your Q as to whether it is a scam.
No, they never had that no. in the 1st place. They faked it. Nobody can stop anybody from calling you from any no.
