Received a call yesterday from 020 8054 9963. Said they were EE and that I was eligible for a 30% discount. They wanted my email address so I gave it to them (stupidly). They sent me an email with a six digit code, which they wanted me to recite to them over the phone in order to activate the discount, but when I read the email it said the code would change my password.
Email looked very genuine but it didn't feel right so I ended the call. Does anyone know if this might have been genuine?

The number you've quoted certainly isn't one of EE's regular outbound ones. You were absolutely right to not provide this unknown caller with the one-time-password, this would potentially have given them access to your EE account.
You should expect to receive some spam and/or phishing emails to the address you provided, sooner or later.
