Been in Canada the past few days and was working fine. But since mid day it's been patchy with giving me signal to anything with no R symbol appearing on my bars. Any help appreciated

Totally agree if you pay for something you expect the service you shouldn't have to buy an esim ! and if there is a problem/issue you would expect from "the number one network provider !" at least a message or if you try to contact Cs some kind of communication the only upside is all day yesterday was like everyone else but this morning I still have a network signal and received the text which you usually get when you land so fingers crossed might have been fixed

Back in the UK now. Yesterday travelling to LAX I was receiving emails, most of them notifications about this discussion, but all the bars were still greyed out. On landing at Heathrow this morning, received a few texts including a āhi from eeā one telling me I am in the USA but not to worry ācos I have the Roaming Pass! Also, normally on landing at LHR and switching off Airplane Mode I would get loads of emails that have been sent whilst I was on the plane, but today it took maybe 10 minutes for emails to arrive and my location to update.

You can use Skype and the number in my signature to call EE over wifi. (UK hours)
Then ask them to activate roaming.
Thanks
To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone. You can call Freephone +44 800 079 8586 on Skype
EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.
On PAYG, this is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first.
On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK.
If you are on pay-monthly and now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 9566000 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

As per my previous post, PAYG is auto-enabled. Therefore one of two things will be causing your issues.
1: Your SIM has not been used in the UK first, thus roaming has not been enabled
2: Roaming is enabled for you, but you are suffering from a national issue with US & Canadian roaming. Your post has now been combined into a larger thread discussing this.

Hi!
I had the same issue in the USA since 6/25. Would show my carrier, then no service then SOS for most of the day.
Today I set up my iPhone cellular settings as follows.
Network Selection - TMobile
Wifi Calling - On
Voice and Data - 4G
I now have full bars and Iām able to receive my messages.
Hope this might work for someone else too!
Richard
