Roaming abroad

Watch out for roaming abroad, EE don't understand their products and will give you the wrong information. I'm just back from New Zealand and took the trouble to speak to EE before I left to check I could use my allowances there. I was assured that I could roam in Australia and New Zealand and use my UK minutes. Data didn't work and I was charged £1.35/min for calls. I think they are trying to deceive you by saying you can use your allowance, but not explaining that there will be substantial extra charges. A bit fraudulent but probably not illegal. The best way to roam abroad is to have an unlocked phone and buy a sim card at your destination airport, the businesses selling the sims have to give you a reasonable deal to survive and can't apply retrospective charges.

@Schub3rt : Were you not advised to buy the Roam Abroad Pass @ £11.40 pm? That would have allowed you to use your UK allowances there, thereby saving you those call charges.
