Re: Wifi Calling Stopped Working (31st)

Yet another person in a mobile black hole unable to make calls or send texts - is someone from EE sorting this...? (I first noticed the problem early on 1st April, although of course people are saying it started the day before. Just feels like the kind of complacency that has made me keep as far as I could from BT for many years. Now just who owns EE....)

Oh yes, and I have restarted both router and phone in that order. On a Pixel 4a so I don't get a preferred connection choice. And I don't happen to have a selection of routers to hand just in case BT can't be bothered to fix a problem common (probably) to many thousands of people. Clearly, it is common as it has been an issue for several hundred people here since exactly the same date. So please don't palm us off with excuses or pointless "trouble-shooting fixes".

You have a short time after posting to edit them, avoiding the need for multiple replies. If your problem started since early April, it's not the same issue as was being discussed in the thread you initially added to - before now being moved into a new thread.

Is your phone not attaching to WiFi-calling across multiple routers, or is it only one? Equally do multiple phones have the same problem on your router?

That's a good way of seeing whether the router or phone is the source of your issues.

Apologies, mistypes (idiocy?) - 1st August!

And, as said, I don't carry spare routers for my "new" EE service. I don't have multiple phones as I live alone. I do know how to do routine trouble-shooting - I used to do IT support some years ago. A system-wide fault is your problem, not ours.

@MadAlien  it’s not @bristolian  problem also they are a customer just like you.   And if you still have this issue then you have a different issue as to what caused the widespread WiFi calling issue as that has been resolved.

Are you on contract or PAYG ?  Has WiFi calling worked previously for you ?

BT has owned EE since 2016 so that’s not  really relevant.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Very many users come on this forum with no idea of what others would call basic troubleshooting - so it's a very brave person to assume any technical knowledge when trying to assist others, in their spare time I might add.

Personally, my experience of so-called support personnel is such that I wouldn't assume anything beyond simple script-reading of them!!

The tests I mentioned are a good real-world test of where the issue lies, and would identify any truly wider issue quite quickly.

Apologies to @bristolian in that case. Since he was repeating past comments that I read here from EE people on  Thursday, I just assumed he/she was EE as following the EE "party line".

I made my post after reading the first set of comments on the thread, all from others that have the problem. So is it "fixed"? I cannot see that you can say that.

I am well aware that BT owns EE. I am sorry if my use of irony wasn't evident. That was the point. I was involved with BT rollout of modems into schools years ago, including broadband installation. A year or so back my village (a not-spot as I say) got on BBC news because BT/Openreach took over 10 days to fix an outage (and seemed to be very keen not to do any work on a vital service on weekends, the bank holiday or even after 5pm). I realise that Openreach is no longer quite part of BT, but they still work hand-in-glove.

So, I do have reasons for my reactions.

However, I may have found a fix, or else BT did. I decided to just switch off wi-fi calling and then switch it back on again. (I have had problems with w-fi calling in the past and either resetting the radios by going into aeroplane mode, or restarting the phone has solve the problem, so I didn't think of it.)

Either that, or calling 150 (using wi-fi calling!) did the trick somehow. I've now been through a full broadband check and have been able to send an SMS.

So the answer on Android could be just reconnecting the wi-fi calling service ....? (Perhaps)
