Re: EE Roaming - Help when abroad with your EE phone or device

Hi

I live in Germany for most of the year, but I need a UK number for my UK bank account. If I get a UK sim from EE, will the sim be cancelled while I spend time in Germany? My current UK sim is with giffgaff and they have said they're going to cancel my sim card (with 10 pounds of credit on it no less) unless that sim is in the uk within the next two weeks.

What's EE's policy? Where do I look to find more info?

Cheers.

@Obthrog : Are you looking at PAYG (as I think it would be with GG) or contract?

  • EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.
  • EE contracts have a Stable Link policy whereby to benefit from EE's roaming charges you need to spend no more than 2 months abroad out of any 4 months. After which you may be surcharged or cut-off.

AFAIK if you turn off your UK mobile for an entire day (midnight to midnight) it doesn't count as a day abroad.

So I don't know how often you need your phone for banking, but if you turn it on only when you need it, it might be an option.
