Re: Could a text from an 07935 number about my account be a scam

Twice now, I have had a notification in my phone's notification menu, saying to call voicemail on +44 7953 222222. No text message has been sent and, while the call icon has a dot on it to indicate activity, there is not missed call listed in recent calls. I called 222 to check and, as expected, there is no voicemail. I checked the number on the whocalledmeuk site and several people have experienced the same thing. Is the number legit or is there anyway that it might be a malicious link that calls a scam number? 🤷

Can you post screenshots of the notifications?

@EarPeace  That’s your voicemail number in full.      Call your device and leave yourself a voicemail say about 10secs long. Now from your device call your voicemail and listen to that voicemail in full then delete it. This should clear all issues with notifications on your device.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Sorry, I've deleted them. I need to adjust notifications settings in several apps because I get bombarded with notifications from them as well.  It seems like less effort just to clear all notifications once a day than to go through each app stting to turn off notifications (I know, I'm lazy!). So, I've been clearing the voicemail ones along with everything else!

That's good to know, thanks. I was worried with not getting a text message alert and no record of any missed call.  I'll give your solution a try in the morning as it's quite late, we have thin walls here and I don't want to disturb the neighbours! Thank you for the advice.

Hi @EarPeace

You can find full information in our Check and Use my Voicemail, Help page, this includes the numbers to call to access the voicemail to check if you have any messages.

Leanne 🙂

Thanks, Leanne. I've tried Chris_B's suggestion and actually got a voicemail text message (as expected), notification of the text message AND separate notification to call voicemail! I'm going to chalk it up to being one of my Motorola's quirks. I rarely get incoming calls, let alone miss them and, this is my first Motorola so, maybe this is 'normal' for this phone. God knows it has a few other quirks that I haven't had with other brands! 😂

Hi @EarPeace

How strange, glad to hear this is sorted for you though and you're getting voicemails 🙂

Leanne.

Hi

I've just received a phone call from 07537 120501 in which the caller said they were calling from EE and notifying me that EE were switching off their 4G this weekend and moving to 5G.

He stated that all numbers and psyment plans will be unchanged but they would be sending out a new SIM card to me this Monday.  They said they would leave it by my letterbox if I was not in and confirmed if this was all okay for me.

I asked if I could call them back and they provided the following number:

0044 7953966250.

Are you able to confirm whether this was a genuine call from EE or if it's some sort of scam?

Kind regards

Tam
