Been sending sms messages adding emoji to them.. Been charged 83p  for each emoji. Is this right.  No other network charges for emoji via sms

@Louismadz1996   A text message is 160 characters and has been since text messages first started, any longer and it could be split two texts or 3 and if not careful it could be spit to a multiple MMS.        MMS are not part of your contract and that’s down to you to know what is and what’s not.       Text messages also don’t require an internet connection and you are not charged for data usage as you have an allowance of data, no data no data connection it’s that simple.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

You've resurrected a thread from 2024, which contains several posts explaining the very point you've raised.

To respond though, texts over 160 characters do not need internet, and are not charged any more than short text messages are. The SMS technical standard allows for messages that are too long for single texts, to be split up for sending through networks in 160-character chunks & then re-combined on the recipient's phone and displayed as one.

Emojis are device-dependent, but most Android phones can be configured to allow virtually all over SMS.
