No mobile service in UAE

Hello. I’m in the UAE and I have zero mobile service. I have wifi but no voice or mobile data services, can’t receive SMS etc. any ideas?

Are you on pay-monthly or PAYG?

The process to activate roaming - which is needed for your phone to connect to foreign networks - differs between the two.

If PAYG, roaming is auto-enabled once you use the phone in the UK first.

If pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled before leaving the UK, and is normally done by texting ROAMING to 150.
