I have checked the questions been asked in the forum about international call forwarding but couldnt clearly relate anyone to my case. I got an EE number on a pay monthly plan. Will it be possible to forward my calls to my number in China (operated by ChinaMobile) while I'm there?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@Chris_B is correct you can only Divert your Mobile to another UK number, but if you really need to do this it is possible by using a 3rd Party International VOIP Call Carrier.
I did exactly this when I was in Hong Kong by using my Rebtel account, My Account is quiet old now but still active. You need to link your mobile number for UK DDi Access Number, ie 0203 9XX XXXX that DDi Access Number is then Linked to an Overseas Number. ie China Mobile, you then Divert your Mobile Number to the UK Access Number.
The additional International Call Cost is charged by VOIP Access Provider which is normally only a few pence per minute.
As far a EE is concerned there is no trickery involved as your diverting your call to a UK 0203 Number.
Note: with some VOIP Providers, the above may not work, as there is a Call Diversion in progress with this set up and this gets Flagged in the Dial String so as to display the Originator Number over your own Mobile Number, so your need to do some homework first with each Provider.

@bamboo1975 No that’s not possible you can only have call forwarding to a UK number.
Also if this was possible you would be charged for calling an international number.

I have been using this method for years. Choose a good VOIP provider, (I have suggestions) and set your phone to divert to a UK VOIP number before you leave the UK. While abroad you can configure your VOIP number as you wish. Costs just pennies. You can use it to avoid roaming charges
