Very unlikely it's done this, what did you do exactly and what is not working now that was before.

I tried to activate a new sim for a new 4g ee mini wifi box they sent me.
Unfortunately the sim activation site is as clear as mud! I put the sim
serial number for the mini wifi in the page but the page said put the
number of the device in which I also did. Then it said a pin code message
has been sent to unlock the sim. Well its a wifi device, I cant read
messages sent to it. So next time i tried I put my bobile number in (to get
the message) and now it is disconnected. Like they think my phone is now on
that new sim. PITA
  1. New SIMs don't need any special activation. You just use them in the device you want. Were you trying to follow a process for replacement SIMs? Sounds like you were. Hence why your old SIM no longer works; it's been replaced by the new SIM. Is the SIM on contract or PAYG?
  2. Most mobile routers do text. Does it have an envelope LED? Login to it & look for the SMS section.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP
The wifi device was all blue lights except the bars on LHS. Would connect
to wifi but not internet. Could not read envelope as not near pc at the
time. Now my phone just says no service.
