I accidentally sent a photo as a text rather than iMessage and it doesn’t seem to have cost me anything - does it normally?

Hi @27f05
I hope you're well and having a nice day, are you up to much or is it a chilled one.
It usually does cost to send an MMS unless you have them included in your plan, or if they are sent via a message service like iMessage.
Are you on contract or pay as you go at the moment?
Thanks
Chris

I’m good thank you, I’m on pay as you go, the £15 a month pack and the photo was supposed to be sent as iMessage but sent as a text instead. I don’t seem to have been charged but I’m not sure how to find that out

Sending multimedia content (photos, videos etc) using your device's default messaging app will send them over MMS which will be chargeable unless you have a bundle covering them (which is rare)
Sending the content over any messaging app (iMessage, Messenger, WhatsApp etc) will be charged as data transfer. If you're using the mobile network, that means your data bundle. If on WiFi, it means whatever the underlying broadband connection charges - which is almost certainly zero.

Hi @27f05
Thanks for coming back to us.
If you text BALANCE to 150, the reply will let you know if you have been charged for the picture message 🙂
Thanks.
Leanne.
