Can’t text or call from USA

Hi

my iPhone won’t send text or call out in the US I can only use WhatsApp when I’m on WiFi in my apartment, any clues anyone?

@Julielking did you activate roaming on your account by texting ROAMING to 150 or did you call customer services to request roaming be activated on your account before you left the UK. 

and have you purchased the roaming add-on that allows you to use your calls text and data whilst you’re there ?
