Barring calls from 0843 numbers

I receive a lot of nuisance calls from 0843 numbers, which I have to bar individually. I am registered with tps service which is useless. I would like to be able to bar all incoming 0843 calls.

Never return a call to an 0843 number as these are always outside of call packagesand will be expensive.

They are making too much money to do that

I have had same problem for years, don't want to block all unknown callers as some are for medical appts. I contacted email as I had been charged a few times, they weren’t interested as they receive about 70p from each call rung back, a supervisor at EE told me this. It’s so infuriating recieving these calls especially if you are waiting on an important call from NHS and there numbers come in as 0800 numbers, easy to get wrong in wrong environment when all you see is the 08 number .

Hi @MaryMac65,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you have been receiving nuisance calls.

Have you signed up to the Telephone Preference Service?

I would also recommend saving the numbers that the NHS contact you on regarding your appointments, to help avoid calling back any unsolicited callers.

You won't be charged for receiving any calls whilst in the UK.

James

Yes, I signed up for Telephone Preference Service. It is useless and doesn't stop the callers.

I ensure that I have all medical numbers (GP, dentist, hospital outpatient clinic) on my contact list. I missed a few calls initially but soon got them on the contact list.

@Wayla : Peeps like GP, dentist, hospital outpatient clinic ... will not be using 0843 nos. today but either local, 03 or 0800, all within your allowance. Your contact list needs cleaning up & brought up-to-date. Get them from a reliable source, like their own webpages or their letters. Do not rely on Google look-up!

I agree with you it must be clear to ee that we their customers want them to take action.

I can’t bar callers who are not in my contacts as i use the phone to run my business.

Its quite clear from the posts above that 0843 numbers are a pain and you can't block them WHY may I ask hasn't EE seen the issue and get off their seats and sort it. An IT company such as EE should come up with a way to block 0843 numbers.

EE aren't interested in helping it's customers if it can make money out of such numbers.

Me too Im so sick of it, thinking of changing my number! Ive done everything I can. Im getting hundreds a year. Done everything to try to stop it. TPS, only contacts etc. but I have a mum with dementia and I need people not in my contacts to be able to call.
