Bad / non exisient WiFi calling

My phone is almost impossible to use as a phone due to really bad mobile signal inside the house and WiFi calling not being noticably different.

For clarity, this is not just my phone, but my partners phone as well. The router is working fine, WhatsApp video calls and other internet based video and voice platforms are flawless it is just WiFi calls that are the problem.

My phone clearly states that my call is a WiFi phone call. I am within a couple of meters and line of sight of my router. I can put my phone on flight mode and manually connect to my broadband. No change. Bandwidth isn't an issue as the symptoms exist regardless of number of devices connected to the router.

Is there a setting on the router that I have missed? Does EE need to allow WiFi calling on their end?

Both phones (one a cheap chinese job and the other a decent Sony example) clearly show VoWIFI at the top of the screen so I can assume that the phones are both set up for WiFi calling.

I have been desperate for some time now as any call I make leads me to outright anger as 98% of my call consists of "can you hear me now" as I wander around the house and garden searching for that elusive signal.

Hi @si499854

Welcome to the EE Community.

With VoWiFi showing on your device, this would indicate WIFI calling feature is already activated on your line.
WIFI calling usually gives a very noticeable difference in call quality.

You may need to contact Customer Service where the technical team can reset the WIFI calling service on the lines.

Before doing that, try manually disconnecting from the network and reconnecting again to synchronise your services.
If your devices use android, follow these steps- Settings > connections > mobile networks > Network operators > switch "automatic" to OFF.
Wait for it to load with networks.

Once loaded, if you can select any networks other than EE  (ignore any error messages that pop up), wait 8 and half minutes

After the full 8 and half minutes (no less) please change back to EE, wait another 4 minutes and then restart your device and test your WIFI calling service.

VoWiFi uses the exact same voice codecs as VoLTE/4G-calling.

2G calls use NB-AMR, both VoLTE & VoWiFi use WB-AMR (HD) or EVS (HD+)
