I am currently in Mexico and have found out that my plan doesn’t seem to cover roaming here, I desperately need to receive a text code to log in to a separate website, I have purchased 100 global text from ee two days ago but I’m still seeing no networks, tried turning the phone off, no joy. Any ideas?

@Mexicon , You can speak to customer service by using something like Skype for free:

+448000798586

Just to add to what @Chris_B  has written, ESims are free, do not cost anything, but have to be done in the UK, so not sure why it has cost you, and if you have a local one, then that would be down to the country you are in, not the UK.

There is live chat if you log into your account either using the app or via the website and when someone is available, they will let you know, as they are also busy with customers answering calls.

The reason roaming is not automatically enabled when on contract, is to protect customers, but can be enabled and once enabled will always be so. It is automatically enabled on pay as you go, but you would then need to make sure that you have the funds for that.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

I can’t believe that in this day and age there is no way of turning on the roaming once you are abroad

Roaming provides the ability to connect to foreign networks, therefore travelling abroad without roaming creates a very natural catch-22.

As with any such scenario, you would need to make contact via other means. An eSIM is just an electronic version of a pSIM (physical SIM)
