4G Mobile data not connecting in USA

I can't get 4G roaming working in the USA, it sometimes connects via EDGE. Data roaming is turned on, mobile data is turned on. I have spent 2 hours with EE tech support over 3 days going through all the phone settings. Network strength has been good in the areas I have tried to get this to work. I reached the point where they agreed the android settings were fine and they were going to turn it over to a 'Level 2 technician'. However in the middle of the call where they were doing that we got cutoff and they did not phone back. I assumed they would still be able to create the ticket but this was 3 days ago and nothing has happened. I tried again this morning but again got cutoff (I am now in an area with intermittent coverage). EE are supposed to have an internet based messaging service for support but this isn't operational. So I am paying for a contract and a chunk extra for a roaming pass that I can't use and the company seems incapable of fixing it. I had the same problem in the USA 6 months ago, but roaming works in France so there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the phone, this is an EE problem. Should  I change network and what do you recommend if so?

The fact that you can connect to a 2G Data EDGE but not 4G could be a Handset Compatibility issue, the States use some totally different 4G/5G Radio Bands compared to Europe and Asia and whilst Mobile Phone types try to accommodate as near as possible to a true Global Roaming Mobile its not always achievable.

Might be worth starting with your Phone Model to check its intended Region (from the exact Model Number) and then checking what LTE / 4G / 5G Bands it supports, then do the same on the USA Roaming Networks you are trying to connect to in order to ascertain which Bands the USA Networks use for 4/5G in your Area.

Yes, that looks like it might be it. Did a bit of digging and the only LTE band that T-mobile and my handset have in common is band 5. And another site I found suggests band 5 is barely used by T-mobile even though they list it.
