I purchased the iPhone 17 Pro Max on Friday. The signal has been fine but I went to work today for first time today since owning this phone and I now get barely any signal. My iPhone 14 Pro was fine in this location I had 2 bars and all apps requiring data worked. My iPhone 17 Pro Max has 1 bar and I get told I have no internet connection. Is anyone else having this issue.
I have done all the normal things deleting Nord VPN, resetting network settings etc etc. Nothing works.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

The problem follows the phone not the SIM. I can access the engineering menu but wouldn't know what good looks like. It is clear the the problem is when there isn't really good coverage - medium to low. Not in the sticks, just indoors in the city in an area with good indoor coverage normally.

Having a signal issue also, 4 iPhones within the house. Upgraded to 17 pro last week and signal is on one/two bar as previous phone (14 Pro) and unable to use data or phone call where previously worked fine.
Also same at work where signal is weak but previously had data and call without a problem.
All other phones in house okay, I think the issue may be the phone itself, all other phones running latest IOS update.

After some testing and resets of many things Tech support have asked to try physical Sim to rule out eSIM issue.
All previous eSIM's have been fine in all other household phones but I'll update over the next few days once I've tried physical sim as I'm sure the issues are handset or software problems.

Did you return the handset in the end.

Texts and Calls do typically work yes, but things like WhatsApp and social media don’t work or load

I have this as my signal info if anyone is able to tell me if this is very poor statistics.

Just to add, after a quick google I think the higher the -SNIR the poorer the reception.
Two other phones on EE at home have much lower numbers which suggests signal issues with the phone maybe.

Those two phones you've screenshotted are connecting to different frequencies/radio carriers.
On the left is using Band 3 1800Mhz and is getting what I'd loosely call a weak, but quite usable signal. On the right is using Band 20 800Mhz and is getting close to edge of cell.
I'll review some of the other replies in this thread later.
