Even though ee site shows good outside signal, around the thanet area this year has been terrible for reception. I choose ee years ago because of great coverage but it's so bad now, thinking about changing supplier. Why is ee so bad this year, is it because all the money is going on adverts and not on equipment?

Hi @Saday
Hundreds of reasons from local network to you device to your home. EE do not guarantee a service everywhere.
Check the service checker here: https://ee.co.uk/help/service-status
Alternatively if you're out of contract then look for a provider which provides better service in your area.
Thanks

There's a few bits in here.
Firstly there is a great perception amongst the public that more on-screen bars are better. Whilst that is often the case, it can go hand-in-hand with fewer bars being worse - which is not necessarily the case. On-screen bars are a rough guide to service, but far more important is the end result. Voice call setup, audio quality & completion success. Data speed & performance - both being the immediately obvious.
With all this in mind, what actual service issues (if any) are you having? Test your service using a PAYG SIM from a prospective new network if service issues are going unresolved after you report them - the coverage webtools are a good basic guide but rarely tell the whole story.
As a second point, network rollout & tech-adds to existing sites are a BAU process for all networks. There are some networks that could be accused of cutting back on network spend in recent years, EE are towards the back of the queue for that one!
