Terrible performance despite 5G and strong signal

I am in my caravan using an EE sim. It’s installed in a D-Link DWR978 5G ac2600 router with a Poynting 5G external aerial, mounted outside the caravan up nice and high.

I admit the weather is awful, heavy wind and rain but Sky go won’t work, kids are struggling with iPads and everything keeps dropping and buffering.

I am  carrying out speed tests from my phone and consistently getting 175-200mbps download whilst everyone else is moaning that their devices aren’t working.

We are all sat by each other less than 10ft from the router and it is so frustrating. I understand and appreciate weather will affect the performance but when I’m speed checking it is giving me very good results so I can’t see why the performance on our devices is so poor and inconsistent.

The only step I would try is if it was an IP related issue for the likes of Sky Go, unsure how it is set up on your router or what it supports, but try to change the IP Type to IPV4 instead of IPV4V6 if that is an option.

If one device is performing well, this sounds like the issue is not on the "backhaul" mobile network connection but an in-caravan wireless problem.

These can be diagnosed using a WiFi analyser such as "InSSIDer"
