I got a text saying welcome to the Isle of Man and the cost of Roaming charges
but I was only in the Lake District how do I amend this as the phone line is mainly automated and it’s hard to speak to someone

Firstly, data roaming is and always has been switched off on my phone. If I actually go abroad (which I have not done this year), I am content to wait until I have a WiFi connection. For that reason, I have never requested or applied for any roaming pass.
The initial text I received was as follows: "Hi from EE. While you're in Jersey thanks to your Roaming Pass you can use your plan minutes, texts and data allowances at no extra cost. Calls to countries outside the EU (not including the UK) are £2.00 per min and texts 82p each. Other charges are the same as when you're in the UK. For the best network coverage your handset must automatically select a network. To do this, choose your phone from: http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device next select 'Connectivity' then 'Selecting Network'. Call +447953966250 for Customer Services & 112 in case of emergency. Have a good trip!"
The more worrying text was later that day, as follows: "Welcome back to the UK, we hope you had a great trip! Now you're back you may want to remove your chargeable Roaming Pass, if so text STOP ROAMING PASS to 150".
The same thing happened the following day, buy with the Isle of Man instead of Jersey.
If I look at my account online, it shows (under My EE Add-ons & Benefits), as one of four active add-ons, the other three being free, "£2.47 per day for EU Roaming" and also says "This add-on cannot be removed".
I am unclear whether a charge of £2.47 per day is now accumulating, but if so I will not pay it. The whole situation is a total mess, not of my making.
Thanks EE

I know this is an old thread but I live in Cumbria and was up a fell near Cockermouth and horns message saying ‘hello and welcome back from Jersey’ I understand the IOM connection, but Jersey? That’s literally hundreds of miles away!!

I live in Cumbria and today we walked around Crummock Water near Cockermouth. On the way back to the car I got a message saying ‘welcome back from Jersey’ and my husband who is on Vodafone got one saying ‘welcome back from Guernsey’ the rest of the message just said about roaming charges.
I understand maybe picking up a connection to maybe the Isle of Man, but Jersey and Guernsey are hundreds of miles away from Cumbria!
Why has this happened and will I be charged roaming fees?

You might if you use your phone while connected to a Jersey network. Try manually selecting your network operator to be EE.

A couple of other posts on the same subject across other threads, now merged together.
@Emma19811 - read the previous posts in this combined thread, they should explain more.

I received a message to say I was in Jersey and roaming charges apply. Later, a 'welcome back to uk' message.
I didn't go anywhere. Remained in Cumbria. What us this about?

I have received a text today saying that I am in Jersey and am being charged for being there. I have not been out of the UK for 6 years and I have never been to Jersey. At the moment I am in Cumbria and have been since yesterday. Can someone please sort this out.
