I cant get 5G anywhere having pixel 8

Ive never had 5G in any town i have visited with either my old pixel 4a or newer 8.  My sim is very old, could that be the issue?

Its called "sim plan 40GB £23" and it ended 1 jan 2022, but still works, thanks

EE SIMs are multi-technology, although SIMs from pre-2021 only support 5G in NSA mode. That means you should still see 5G coverage although your calls would be carried over 4G instead.

Have you checked on the coverage tool, whether the towns you've visited, should have 5G coverage?

It's says 5G+.  I knew it would, its definitely not a network issue.

Could it be a contract issue?

It is possible that plan is not a 5G plan and may be limited to 4G, if I remember some of the old naming conventions correctly.

You may thus need to change your plan to access 5G coverage.
