As I think I may have posted here before, I'm currently in Wing (LU7) NOT by my own choice, I was just unceremoniously dumped here.
I've been having issues attempting to update my iPad (the last successful update was to IPadOS 16.1). Now, I've been here since 08/02/2023. I'm reliant on my phone to get online as I can't get reliable landline broadband here. Today, I've been working with Martin B and Andrew from your socials team (both have been absolutely BRILLIANT - you're ALL absolutely wonderful, for someone who's neurodiverse, your patience and kindness is more than appreciated. THANK YOU! 🤗☺️) and Andrew prompted me to back up my iPad, so I tried; "backup failed due to poor network connection. Last successful backup 18/05".
Now, considering I have been able to successfully back up since I've been here, and I'm still in exactly the same place, I don't understand what's changed. I've changed nothing on my phone or my iPad and I've had no issues installing macOS updates, nor have I ever had any issues updating my phone. I have no VPN.
The other thing which is worth mentioning is that an Ookla test on both my phone and iPad revealed that the down speed on my iPad is less than half what it is on my phone (middle of nowhere, no 5G here!). Phone is 90, iPad is 38.5. Can anyone explain such a vast discrepancy...?
The other thing (not internet-related) is that I have no phone signal here (pretty certain that, when I first arrived here, I was able to make and receive calls, now dialled calls cut off almost immediately, and incoming calls cut off the second I answer). This is a pretty big deal. The coverage checker tells me that I should have "excellent" 4G coverage indoors and out. Clearly, this is not the case.
This is making me feel pretty anxious because I would be unable to call for help in an emergency. I'm pretty much stuck here - and now (and not just for these reasons, there are others) I'm feeling an overwhelming need to escape. At my age, I should've had something of a life by now - my mental and physical health are pretty much shot.
Can anyone help, please...?

When you say that you rely on your iPhone to get online, are you using your iPhone as a hotspot for your iPad? That would explain the discrepancy in speeds at least.

Is your issue a lack of coverage? Or is it poor data speeds within coverage?
The first check for loss of coverage should be the "check status" option on the online coverage tool. A coverage prediction is the result if you've used "check coverage" instead.
