Using NordVPN with Roaming Pass in Spain

Hi

I have an Apple 13 MAX phone and will be off to Tenerife shortly. I have installed NordVPN and everything is fine in the UK with the VPN connected.

My question is, are there any issues using the Roaming Pass in Spain or any other EU countries with VPN connected?

Hi @Porky762

As long as roaming is activated on your account then it will work just fine. Always sensible using a VPN on unknown/free WiFi and foreign networks 👍🏻

Thanks

I would be wondering whether using the VPN would make EE think you are roaming in some other country outside the EU & so the Roam Abroad Pass would not be applicable there.

@XRaySpeX  I doubt that otherwise using a VPN in the UK could put you abroad.

@Chris_B : True! But I'd still wonder until I've tried it out 😉 .

Now I am confused, having three Grand Master level members discussing my issue. Wouldn't the fact that my phone should be connected to the local Spanish mobile network give a clue that I am out of the country?

We may speculate all we like but you won't know until you've tried it in Spain.

OK, first how would I know if it's working or not, or do I just wait for the bill?

Second, what if I connect the VPN to a Spanish location?

I use a VPN in the UK and abroad no issues.

Your internet connection is always in the country you are in, all that happens is that you're connected to a server which is all the EE can see.

If you are in Spain all EE will see is that you are using data in Spain, even if your VPN is connected to a US server. All EE will see is that you are connected to one IP

Phone - internet - VPN - internet

Thanks
