Hi,
I'm trying to find out what I can do to improve my signal. I find I'm frequently getting dropouts where apps say my network is bad.
If done some testing and sometimes get between 10 & 30mbps, but other times speed tests show less than 200kbps or even fail. I'm seeing massive ping disparity of between a few hundred milliseconds, to several seconds ( i'm talking 7-10 seconds). Technical support tell me there's nothing they can do. It seems the worst instances showed my connection hopping across 4 cell towers, one of which showed a line of sight issue.
All through this testing my signal shows either 4g+ or 5g, with a dBm of -84 to -90. Indoor and outdoor test show similar results.
Can anyone help me improve things?
Adrian

It's not unusual for phones to be jumping between multiple serving sites/sectors depending on traffic loading - the dBm levels you've quoted don't generally suggest any edge-of-cell scenario so therefore a coverage issue doesn't seem to fit.
"Line of sight" in engineering terms is usually taken to mean an issue with a backhaul microwave link, meaning a site is wholly off-air. I presume that the "technical support" person you were talking to was a CS agent rather than an offline network engineer, so this comment leaves me a little puzzled.
If a site is off-air, it's not providing coverage. If it's on-air, then self-evidently it's handling traffic. If they're alluding to a site that's coming & going, then performance stats would be suffering and there may be a balancing act.
