hi guys:

as promised, here is my updated definitive guide for phone signal optimization on EE [2025]

feedback, comment and amendments always welcome 💖

1. check network status (you will need your full post code and be logged into My EE)

coverage checker link:

https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile-coverage-checker

even if signal is reported as "excellent" in your area, you can still report an issue to EE engineers.

2. update your system software (on your phone) to the latest "android version". (usually called a "system update")

3. check your phone's data download and upload speeds (before and after my suggested tips) x

i recommend:

4. remove temporary files from your phone (this usually makes your phone more responsive). i recommend:

junk cleaner - ora phonemaster [receives 4.7 rating on google playstore from real users]💖

5. "useful things" smart phone speed up guides

i recommend "useful things" entire youtube tech channel. he tests his setting changes in real time, gets over 1,000,000 views, enjoys positive feedback and is very concise 🙂

here's his excellent vid on increasing smartphone net speed (for wifi and mobile data):

6. a diy way to boost radio signal receiver at home (when phone is stationary)

7. clean your phone's sim chip (and reinsert it):

our sim chip is crucial to our phones operation. you want a dry, dust-free chip so it communicates correctly with EE's network.

1. remove sim chip (with phone OFF) > check your manufacturers guide to do this.
2. use a cotton bud with a tiny dab of (any) cheap window or glass cleaner (alcohol-based) to clean sim chip's metallic surface, dont press hard
3. use a fine microfibre cloth (such as one for spectacles) to remove grease, oil, water : dont rub hard
4. reinsert sim chip (correct side up) into phone (turn phone ON)
5. enjoy the lemon-fresh, zesty goodness of a "restored" sim chip (particularly good for older phone models) x

7. signal boosters and "repeaters" can be installed in phone/router user homes for persons suffering from particularly acute "dead zones" (due to architectural inhibitors like metal frame installations, thick concrete, or low elevations)

examples are:

SureCall Flare 3.0 [editors choice, PCmag 2025]

weBoost Drive Sleek [editors choice PCMag 2025]

best regards, OldSchoolTech 🚀
