Adding a Data only sim to my account

I have a 4g cctv camera, to connect to this remotely I have bought a prepaid data only EE sim card which is in the camera

I would like this sim card to show up on my EE Account so i can check the data usage and the remaining data balance

On the EE website there is a "add a device" section but when you put the telephone number in it says it will send you a notification  for verification which is obviously no good as the sim is in the camera

Is there any way around this?

Can you put the SIM in a phone just to receive the verification text?

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP
Thanks I may have to consider that but the camera is now mounted up high as it wasn’t meant to be moved but if there is no alternative I will have to get it down
Thanks

I have the same issue with the data only SIM in a modem. When I try to link it to my account so I can check the usage it wants to send a code number to the SIMs number which I can’t obviously read. The modem is now secured in the roof of my boat so I can’t get to it to put the SIM in a phone as recommended

@Happy-Place : Most mobile routers can receive texts. Login to it & look for the SMS Section/Inbox.

There is no readout or display on the router in order to display a received
text. I was able to obtain a readout last year on my PC but now I have just
replaced the SIM for another identical annual one I cannot access it to
monitor the usage. I spoke to EE technical support and they suggested I set
up another EE account but it tells me there is already an account under that
email address.

Have you tried to access the routers web interface from your local network? E.g. browsing to the IP address of the router?

Hi, No, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Based on the fact that last
year I only used 60GB of the 120GB I will just accept that I can't access
the usage. It's a shame the system can't send the PIN to another mobile so
I could read it that way but as my mobile is a Vodafone it doesn't work.
I had the same issue and the same suggestion so created a new email to attach the data only “account” it’s not ideal but at least I can view my usage
I think the customer services lady had to set it up for me as I couldn’t get a text from the data sim as it was in a cctv camera
Bit of a faff but it works
