We have had a 4g ee router for a couple months with no issues. Recently both netflix and amazon prime will not work on smart tv or firestick. Internet speeds are fine and netflix through phone works fine. I have tried resetting the content control with no success. How can this be resolved?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Can the router be faulty in some way or too basic to not allow the required settings to be changed?
So just to recap, are you saying you have changed the settings in the Router (IPV4 Only and or the 3G Only to Test) and it hasn't made any difference to the issue, or, are you saying you have tried to change the settings in the Router but was unsuccessful to make the changes ie, the Router wouldn't let you make the changes.
Plusnet use the EE Network and Data Gateways, so I would expect similar results when testing with a Plusnet SIM.

Hi @EssexBoyEE ,
I was able to set router to IVP4 only, same issue remained. Have also tried IVP6 only. I can't set to 3G only, my options are Auto or 4G only, neither option makes a difference.

Hi, I’ve seen this is a few months old but I have a whole story behind this with no resolution. Moved into an area where all the other networks are getting speeds of 5-25mbps, EE can get 125 mbps on 4G with 5G also present. So I purchased the unlimited sim (aware of the 600GB limit) but have bit the same issue as yourself and tried all fixes found from all corners of the internet! From using only IPV4 to changing DNS settings, making my own profile etc. I have tried three/Vodafone sims and all devices and apps work fine. As soon as I pop in EEs sim, it’s chaos. Tried different brand routers even a 5G router and no luck

Thank you for your reply, it happens on random devices. For example on my LG TV with the three sim being used everything works, when I pop in EEs Netflix/Disney/prime video will work but not YouTube. I have two windows 11 laptops that are the same, on one of them everything works fine but on the other multiple websites get the error ‘connection was reset’ or ‘SSL error has occurred and a secure connection cannot be made’. For my iPhone 13 mini I can access some sites/apps, on my iPad Pro nothing works. I’ve tried to map IPs to these devices and turn off IPV6 within these devices but no luck. I also noticed that three uses IPV6 and I don’t have any issues with that so it’s all confusing. I would really love to get this to work since the speeds are amazing but I just can’t figure this out. My only other solution would be to purchase a cheap android phone and use it as a ‘router’ via personal hotspot.

Hi @FishBurger,
Have you tried changing the content lock settings for your SIM?
For the laptop issue, I'd recommend making sure you're using all of the same settings as the working machine.
What happens when you try to connect your iPad to your 4GEE router?

Content lock removed, all settings are same in the working and non working windows 11 devices. I work in IT so I am familiar with this stuff but the networking side I have no clue about. The iPad will work sometimes but it’s the same errors being mentioned.

Which LTE Router are you using (Make and Model Number)

Hi @EssexBoyEE , I’m currently using huawei B535-232 but I have tried the following:
huawei B525-23a
TP-Link AC1200 Archer MR600 v1 and V2
Zyxel 5G NR5101
same issue with all, fine with all other networks apart from EE

Are you running all the APN Settings on these with IPV4 Only and PAP.
If so, try taking out User and Password Settings and set to None ie,
User is (left empty) and not set to eesecure
Password is (left empty) and not set to secure
Reboot after every Settings Change.
