4G Mini-Hub Dongle password

I have received from EE a Dongle (Mini-Hub) whilst my Fibre cable is being repaired. It is asking me to log-into the UI where I have an SMS outstanding. It will not allow me to enter any of the passwords, either from the card or Google recommended passwords. Clearly I have screwed up somewhere. Is there a default password I can use to log-in or some other method of obtaining a fresh password?

That's a 4GEE WiFi Mini mobile router. I have 1.

Take the back off. On the back of this cover is the admin pwd on bottom of label. At the top of the battery is a Reset (R) button. I notice the admin pwd is not on the KeepMe card at all, so your attempt from that was with the wrong pwd.

If it is not recognising the admin password on the KeepMe card it is likely been changed from default & so you need to Reset it. There should be a 'R' button or hole somewhere.

Login to your MBB router at http://192.168.1.1 with username/pwd as "admin"/"admin" or with the admin password found under the battery cover.

Hi, thanks for that. This is not a normal hub/router as such. It is a small 2"x3" white box that allows temporary access to the 4G network. It doesn't have a reset button or admin password. it just has the SSID with its password. I can use them to login to the network but I cannot access the UI at http://192.168.1.1   It comes back with invalid password.

Great, yes that's the one. I took the back off and lo & behold there is the Admin password.

I''l go back and try what you suggested.

Thanks.

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.

No need to Reset then!

Yes, all working now. Thanks for your help. I might recommend to EE that they update their Dongle User Guide so that numpties like me can find the site and admin password.  😄

One more silly question: When I try to access my frequent websites using the 4G Dongle, I get the error message: ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH, or 'Unsupported protocol'.  This happens on both my Desktop PC and my mobile phone. Is this a consequence of being temporarily downgraded to 4G or do I simply need to adjust some parameter in my Google Chrome browser?

Thanks for nay advice.

Nowt to do with 4G. It's the WiFi Security mode setting. What you got it set to? Don't use WEP. Recommend WPA2 PSK / AES.

Hi, Yes all the security modes are set to WPA2-Personal AES, on my PC, phone, Dongle.

If I go to my Dongle dashboard it shows that Internet is connected but no bars showing. Carrier is BT.

Running a speed test shows 11.08 Mb/s downline and 0.77 Mb/s upline. All my usual websites were accessible before I used the Dongle, ie when my Fibre connection was working. With a bit of luck Openreach are supposed to come today to fix the break in the fibre cable.
