I've had this same issue - I also am struggling to remove the items from my basket while I was just trying to check out the options. Is the only way of fixing this that you've found to call 150? Upgrading online is my preferred option... having to call and be on hold is not my idea of a good time!

Are you on the website?
If you click back to the add-ons page where it offers insurance, there should be a summary at the bottom, with a basket symbol at the side.
On the opposite side you'll find an arrow which allows you to expand the summary.
You can then click Edit Basket to make your changes.
