Smart Hub 7 plus with Unifi

We are just about to get EE  150Mbps full fibre with the smart Hub 7 plus router/modem.

We have a secured Unifi network (VLANs for trusted devices, IOT, security cameras erc).  This is currently connected to the Plusnet router which is setup in bridge mode.

I believe that BT VoIP  phones have to be connected directly through the  WiFi hosted on the hub and connected be routed  to another WiFi network.  Is this correct?   Does this also apply to the ATA  supplied as part of the install?

Can I set the Smart Hub 7 plus to bridge mode?

If so will the analogue port on the new router still allow our existing analogue phone to work?

My Unifi Dream Router 7 supports direct fibre connection.  Can I connect this in place of the EE fibre modem?

All help appreciated.

Thanks @XRaySpeX

Yes correct.  The old BT ADSL feed came into the rear of the living room and an extension socket was provided at the front if the living room.  The analogue handset was plugged into the extension socket.  The fibre was installed to the front of the room.  I had hoped to simply  connect an extension cable from the EE SH7  and then use the analogue handset plugged into the old BT master socket.

On

E thing I noticed was when I plugged the analogue phone into the old Master it rang.  Picking up the handset gave dial tone but when the handset was replaced it rang again.  This was repeated five it six times but the handset did not when rung from my mobike.

Weird.

That is possible but when I tried it in the old socket after changeover there was no dial tone.  I'll try it in the internal socket tomorrow.

@Andy1T   Even though your Voice line is now Digital, the chances are that your line is still connected to the Exchange Equipment, so you should break that connection. Replacing the Masyer Socket with an extension socket is a good way to do so.  Don;t just replace the front cover, make sure you do not reconnect the incoming pair.

@Andy1T   Have you done any other checks on your line. At the moment it seems you don't know if your dial tone is from the router or the exchange. Whose number do you get if you call your mobile, or 17070?

@Mustrum ,

Thanks

Yes when connected directvtobthe EE SH 7  the phone rings andcwe can make outgoing calls.

I'll dig out an old extension socket tomorrow.  If not I'll disconnect the incoming copper pair from the Master socket.

Just disconnect & tape over the incoming pair to the A& B terminals at back of the master socket. It's already wired to the extension socket w/out any other wiring.

@Andy1T As long as you are happy, they just don't make it at all easy with the new DV landline option and FF connection!

Yes disappointed that the EE SH 7  is so locked down.  Makes life difficult if trying to improve security of IoT devices etc.

Still analogue voice seems to work OK so thankful for small blessings.
