if I have a contract and it’s a 2 year and is due to end on 7 July, does it automatically end so no direct debit is taken and it’s completely finished? Do I have to call up or anything to say I no longer want upgrade or carry a contract on?

I just moved abroad and I want to reduce the cost of my EE sim card so I can still use it when i return in the holidays. I cannot contact anyone at EE as the online chat is not working; can anyone advise me what to do as my bill is so high now?!
