VAT receipt for Personal Accounts

Why do EE not show the VAT breakdown on their personal accounts? I charge some of my bills to my business and need a VAT receipt to do that. Why is EE exempt from showing their VAT  details on their bills.... I wish I could do the same?

They are obliged under UK law to provide a receipt for the purchase.  Remember your statement is not the receipt.  its simply a request for payment.

But a business account is not what people who charge some of the bill to expenses. A business account is always at a higher rate per month for the same service, although it may include special service for loss of signal so a "business" doesn't loose business.

An individual claiming some of there bill as employee expenses does not need these extra services!

BT always supplied me VAT invoices so that I could do the above, EE refuse to do so, even though when they talked me into switching, (this was while contacting BT to get access to my invoice as the web site was down), they told me everything would stay the same, even invoices. Your guys must be trained to lie?

I await my accountants comments when I submit my accounts and haven't been able to claim the VAT back on my EE bills.

Note O2 will supply VAT invoices even for domestic mobile contracts, yippee.

"There's no legal obligation to provide an VAT invoice unless both you and your customer are VAT registered."

So when both are and they decline their obligation, where do you go next to resolve?

This is very helpful. EE have decided that if we need to see the tax deducted, we need to move to a more expensive business account, no matter how many times we protest we don't need one, we just need to see the figures.

BT don't have this rule, but EE insist.

I have been wondering whether to leave EE. Now I know the answer.
