Re: iv been getting calls saying ee wants to change my sim only to 5g is this real

I’ve just received on of those calls and it’s definitely a scam. The number I was called from was 020 8044 8198. Block it immediately and do not give them any details. When I asked her some questions, she said “you’re wasting my time”. Other than a dodgy UK landline number and rude attitude, I haven’t received a call from EE in decades. So there’s your clue. Give them hell and report them.

I have been receiving same calls - from few numbers, they call every day 0161 564 2881 - saying that new SIM is in the post and should arrive tomorrow.
they want me to read them number from the text message they send me during the call

is that eligible or a scam?
I’ve been trying to call EE but the wait is too long.

can someone let me know should I block them - the only reason I haven’t blocked them already is because the message seem to arrive every time they call

thank you!

It sounds like a scammer may be trying to access your EE account, to potentially order a replacement SIM. Part of EE's account security is to send the account holder a text message containing a PIN or password, otherwise known as an OTP.

Giving an unknown caller this PIN is giving them full access to your EE account, so only do this if you're 100% sure of their identity.

If you're not sure who they are, blocking the number seems an entirely sensible thing to do. A spammer will soon get bored.

Hey @Dee2007.

Welcome to the Community!

We are actually encouraging some customers to upgrade their SIMs so they can benefit from 5G Standalone, but as far as I'm aware we're not ringing customers about this.

I've had a double check too, and this isn't a number that our team would call from, so if you receive any further calls please don't share any personal details or PINs, like @bristolian mentioned.

If you haven't already, you can also report these calls to our security team here:
