Third party charges when sim is blocked

ZayIsh

I have been scouring this forum for help on some third party Google play charges after my phone was stolen. I’ve followed all the steps in the hope that Google refund me, let’s wait and see.

What I can’t get my head around, is when my phone is stolen and I reported to EE, they blocked my SIM. That means that no-one should be able to put my sim into another device and use it, or receive messages etc. However - this is exactly how they have charged my EE account to someone else’s Google play account, so the sim wasn’t disabled.

What further baffles me, is why EE don’t put a block on third party charges when you report your sim as stolen, or at least ask you at that point?! That seems like a very basic level of service to offer, knowing clearly this has been happening for a few years. I’m absolutely appalled at this, how EE don’t flag the multiple (£800) worth of attempted charges, and don’t offer any pre-meditated steps when someone reports a sim stolen.

I’m new to EE and it came highly recommended but I’m so appalled at how this has been handled and 0 protection for their customers. Absolutely shocking and so disappointed.

Even if the SIM is blocked the thief can go over WiFi to anywhere & buy anything.

Hi @ZayIsh

Welcome to our community.

I'm sorry to hear about your phone being stolen, I know how stressful that can be. As we cannot access your account here on the forum, I'm not able to see the timeline of events. Were these charges only initiated after you called to block your SIM?
