Hi All, after being an EE customer for years it pains me to have to write a complaint like this. in April i was contacted because i was eligible for a free upgrade. I thought id try something new and decided on the Galaxy z Flip 3. Great phone, looks nice and quirky with the fold screen. over the past 3 months it got a few marks and scratched from the cover that i had on it but functionally flawless, until last weekend. Never dropped, broke or damaged a phone in my life, never really in my hands long enough to do so. when i took out the phone i was told that due to the nature of the phone the screen would be protected under manufacture warranty for the duration of my contract, great i thought as i was worried that a folding screen would see undue strains and pressure. I contacted CS, went in to two EE stores and all said yes, manufacture fault we will send it for repair. the second store assistant even told me that on Monday morning it was the second flip/fold phone they had had in that morning. i was told i could have a loan phone while said fault was being repaired, no phone to lend me. I was then told to go look in CEX across the street to buy a cheap phone while mine was away. needing my phone that's what i had to do. this morning ive had a message from the so called EE repair centre telling me that the screen would cost me £339 to repair as the warranty is void because of damage to the phone. the damage they are referring to is some marking on the casing from the cover i have on it and marks on the screen where ive been using the phone. the person i spoke to in the repair centre sounded like she really couldn't be bothered answering the phone and customer services basically told me they cant go against the almighty repair centre! ive never had or needed insurance and didn't this time because according to the CS advisor the screen was covered if the fold broke. the warranty is a scam, the slight marking and damage to the casing would in no way affect the fold in the screen. EE are aware of this type of fault as i was notified on my initial call when the screen started going. Kevin Bacon can apparently get a signal at the top of a mountain but i cant get a decent signal in my local area next to a mast. if your new to ee and still in your cooling off period give the phone back, go with another company and save yourself the trouble of dealing with the UKs WORST network!

We have been we customers for many years and have 5 devices on contract. My daughters a flip 3 started going blank screen when it was opened and small cracks started forming in the fold. It’s still well within the 24 month warranty and is otherwise in good working order and condition. I’m aware these are common faults on this device. They are simply not durable or fit for purpose. I returned the phone to the eve store we purchased it from and after being told to go away and call customer services after some insistence they senior csr agreed to send the phone away for repair under warranty. We were not offered a replacement phone and I had to return with another phone I owned on two separate occasions before this was done and the data transferred. Two days later I received a call from the repair centre claiming that there were big dents and scratches all over the phone the outer notifications screen was cracked and the repair to the main screen was not covered under warranty and would cost me over 300 pounds. I requested photos of the damage and a copy of the warranty policy. I have recieved neither. EEs behaviour on this matter is illegal and in contradiction of Samsungs own statements and numerous consumer reports relating to these common manufacturing faults on this model. Please respond comprehensively

Good afternoon @Dom73.
Thanks for coming here.
I am sorry to hear this is happening to your daughters phone.
After speaking with the repair centre have you spoke with our technical care team to request the photos?
Katie

About the same amount of help as I got from ee, none. Samsung did repaire mine 4 weeks ago, and the new screen has already got a small crack in it. I won't be using ee or Samsung again after being a customer for years. The flip phones are not fit for purpose

Wow I am having the EXACT same issue. I’ve been with EE for over ten years and have four contracts yet they will not help me in the slightest even though they know the fault on the fold 3 is common. I now have to take this to trading standards and will be winding down my contracts with ee and moving to another provider. Ee sell this phone knowing it’s fault and also knowing that they will wriggle out of any warranty claim with any mark on the phone being deemed as damage to the known fault

Ee are using any excuse they can to get out of helping with the KNOWN issue. I have been a customer for over ten years and have four contracts but I’m now stuck in a contract I pay extra for to renewing after 12 month on the fold 3 which because of its fault I can’t change after 12 month and have another 12 on top of that. I’ve apparently had this escalated to the highest point and got no where

I've taken it to the ombudsman and guess what? Got absolutely no where as there's lack of evidence that EE caused the fault, absolutely livid 😞

The fold 3 has a defective screen samsung and ee know it but wriggle out of any warranty claim. Some insurers won’t even insure the fold 3 that says it all

@Alanl11 . It is a painful experience. Reading your experience with EE is like you're telling my story.

I have taken the case to the ombudsman now hopefully they will see that this is an ee and Samsung cop out. Got around 37 people in touch with me too in the same boat. Once my contracts are run down after 10+ years I will leave ee
