Hi all,
I'm here to seek some advice. I have got myself into a lot of debt of which I now cannot afford. The latest issue which has tipped me over the edge is taking out multiple mobile contracts with EE and 02 and then selling on the device for quick cash on eBay. I was desperate and unable to get a loan.
I'm now at a point where I can't afford to pay them all, we are due to have a little one soon and bills are tight. I'm seeking out help from Stepchange and they have advised I go on a debt management plan.
I accept that my accounts are going to default and in the long run I will be better off for my family, but my only fear is that the mobile devices I sold getting blacklisted for non payment.
On EE terms & conditions it states that after 6 months the devices are owned by me, now all the devices I sold are over that time period so it should be okay?
With 02 I haven't been able to find much.
I'm feeling a sense of relief getting the help on the debt plan, but also stressed that the people I sold these phones to on eBay will start getting in touch to say the devices are now blocked.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi @Profile closed
What you have done is commited fraud and youll be lucky not to receive a Cifas flag or maybe a visit from the police.
Just think of the innocent people who purchased those handsets and now had them blocked (or they will be blocked) and lost the money they paid you. I assume you have told stepchange about doing this as from their recommendations i would assume you haven't. I would suggest speaking to them and telling them the truth.
Thanks

I have had every intention of paying the bills but as I explained above I am now in a position where I cannot continue to pay them. I have not committed fraud and have not even had that thought occur to me. I have done everything I have to help keep things afloat as I had no other option at the time.

Hi @Profile closed
You have obtained contracts with the intention of selling the handset. You clearly had no intention of paying them and by your own admission knew you couldn't afford them. The forums are littered with people who have purchased handsets from facebook, ebay and then suddenly get blocked. This is not a victimless crime and those people you have sold to will lose out just like all those other posters.
As i said you had better speak to Stepchange about this issue.
Thanks

Your sold devices may be over 6 months old NOW but were they when you sold them? If not, you breached your contract and they will likely be blacklisted causing the buyers to lose out by being defrauded by you.

What you're doing is correct don't listen to these people trying to frighten you or they're just chatting rot whatever the northerner clown is up to yes your a bad girl but fraudster you are not.It would be fraud if took out those contracts with no intentions of paying but you paid them for over 6months.Also regardless of when you defaulted on payment those phones can't be blacklisted only stolen or phones reported lost get blacklisted your my dear the services would be stopped first then eventually the network provider will block your sim but the device is unlocked so another networks sim will work. Are the people you sold them too at risk of dead phones no you don't have to worry

@60yroldkid You clearly don’t know that a network can blocklist a device because of none pay of the contract. It’s not just there for lost/stolen devices. And once a device is blacklisted it doesn’t work on any network even if that device is network unlocked.
Having every intention of paying a contract and not paying that contract and doing it more than once and with more than one network is clearly classified a fraud. And will be looked on a such even if the intention wasn’t to commit fraud. It’s happened on multiple occasions as stated on the OP.
The objective was to get and sell phones and this was done on multiple occasions with 2 networks. The OP had money issues so decided to make cash by getting contract phones that they clearly couldn’t afford to sell on it’s called fraud. The intention of paying is totally irrelevant because it’s happened on multiple occasions.
