Annual increases

I see BT/EE have increased the amount by which plans go up each year. I won't be adding any new plans or upgrading now, £2.50 on a lower cost sim only plan is a nearly 25% increase in the first year.

Yes, is suspect we are being lied to and this doesn’t go to increased investment but to profits.

You’re think so but running a network isn’t free to any network.  It’s not just your household bills that go up ie electricity, business have electric also and the network is operating via you guessed it electricity.  Costs for parts that are manufactured go up because that manufacturer has increased costs.   It’s a bloody merry go round that affects everyone from consumers to suppliers.    As for “ this doesn’t go to increased investment but to profits”.  5G didn’t just happen without investing in the technology, rolling it out didn’t just happen at no cost.  Keeping it all operational doesn’t happen for free.  And show me a network provider that doesn’t operate to make a profit that includes all networks including MVNO networks.

I don’t disagree with you that they need to go up, however the fact that increases are way above inflation is the problem. There is profiting and profiteering.

You missed the point.

Increased profits are after investment and expenses in any business.

Just as the energy companies continue to make record profits even when they say energy prices are rising.

They, like all the others increase prices more than necessary to cover additional expenses AND additional profits.
Part of the reason they are way above inflation is the stupid idea Ofcom have come up with for set price increases.

Someone paying £60 gets a tiny percentage increase, someone with a £10 sim gets 30%.

I didn’t, my point is that will we see increased investment or will this just go to increased profits, some of the increase does go to pay salary increases etc, however if costs/investment only goes up by inflation then these massive increases will just go to profits.

Yes, fair point when put like that, you’re on the same page

Not really, Ofcom expected that they would have relative increases, so the increases on cheaper tariffs would be less than larger tariffs, like they were with the CPI+ increases. Instead all of the networks except 3 did a flat increase applicable to all tariffs. As always Ofcom’s rules backfired.

I pay to make and receive calls, and for data.  I'm pretty sure they all provide that, so I'll be fine. 👍

And no, I don't cost them money - the infrastructure is already there.  What has cost them money though is me leaving. 😊

Exactly, and it's the same across the board, supermarkets making record profits while complaining their costs are soaring, energy providers doing the same, phone companies doing the same.  Funny how they keep making more and more money, and how simpletons keep defending them like none of us understand that businesses make a profit. 😂

EE bang on about upgrading their infrastructure, yet I haven't seen any improvement in my service in the past few years.
