According to the citizens advice they say the following
“Your provider has to give you 30 days’ notice if they’re putting up the price of your contract. You have the legal right to cancel the contract within those 30 days without having to pay a fee. Contact the company and say you’re cancelling within the allowed 30 days’ notice of a price increase.”
Any legal people here can let me know if this means I can cancel my sim only contract?
thanks for your help 🙂

@Grandmaster80 If you time your upgrade right you’ll only get 1 price increase before you can upgrade again. Obviously if you keep to this you’ll always get a better deal on the 2nd year when you can upgrade. You just have to time it spot on and resist the urge to get that shiny new toy early.
Plus you can find out Decembers CPI rate from mid January so you can actually plan ahead before EE even contact you about any price increase.

Hi
I’ve just seen my latest bill price increase hike insane
i have been with EE for 10 years but as soon as my contracts end I’m going to Virgin

If I with my business pulled the stunts EE has I'd be out of business and fast. I buy a business lets say. Then on top of my profits I add an extra 4% to build my business??? EE claim energy cost has gone up 80% aww didums is my stance look at Joe publics energy cost increase. I'm going to check the position regarding cancelling. My phone and plan was £68 in Oct 21.... now 17 months later its £85!!!!! Not acceptable. When I rang I got a truly effective customer service guy as I wanted to cancel. Telling me oh but EE do all kinds of loyalty deals and affiliations with different stores. I've been a customer well over 10 years. Wife daughter son all the same.
Let's now play a game. How many of us do you think will stay. I'll give you a clue the answer is a round number ... the basic tariff I've just found by trawling the app. Its not publicised and not offered to folk by customer services. I'm terminal. I'm dying. I rely on my phone to stay in touch with family n friends. If I took social tarrif at £12 I'd save £73!!!!!. Ill close on this last statement. How many customers will stay with EE after such horrendous increases. Shops took a beating when they took the mickey and had to lower price. Energy prices are dropping. But people won't be quick to rejoin EE and you may be their nxt casualty. Sack staff to increase profits.
Good day. My apologies for the length

What I did as soon as I was notified of the increase was to request a PAC (which you don’t have to use), even though still in my contract. A few hours later I received a call from EE Retentions and was offered a pretty good deal on a new contract which will save me quite a bit.
I never had any intention of leaving as EE has by far the best coverage around where I live and very fast 5G.

@Umiamz so you was eligible to grade, which means you could’ve got a cheaper deal anyway, EE will not lower your contract price whilst in your contract term regardless if you request a PAC code.

I think that you will find that they have relaxed that recently, as have the other networks. Family members have had similar success only a few months into a contract, despite not being eligible for an upgrade.
Anyway, no harm trying - they can only say no.
