WiFi setup and Apple AirPlay issue

Hi, I’ve just notated to EE from BT, and setup my new router earlier today.

I’ve noticed that when I am streaming music to a speaker using airplay that every two minutes or so it ‘glitches’ or ‘pauses’, so there’s a tiny break in the music of maybe a second or so.

Anyone else come across this?   If it continues I’ll have to give the helpline a call as it’s v annoying.

cheers

Cheers @mpritch 😊

Is there anything nearby that could be causing interference with the signal?

Have you had a chance to try all the steps recommended earlier in this thread too?

Ok ..I'm a bit late but maybe this will help someone

In my setup I use the Neutron music player on Android (running on a newish Lenovo tablet, or  a Samsung Tab 8, or Moto G54 phone ). For years with my BT hub  allowed streaming of music flawlessly (via DLNA) to my Yamaha CRX-N470D Hifi ( now connected by ethernet to my SH31B Smart (!) hub.

If I connect the mobile devices to the hubs normal 2.4/5.5ghz WiFi SSID I suffer problematic connection plus regular dropouts of of 1 or 2 secs. I don't think this has anything to do with signal quality or interference...it seems like  protocol issues or glitches in the hubs main WiFi connection SSID.....

This hub has given me grief from day one,  ..DDNS disappeared during initial setup  so I couldn't setup remote connection to a number of smart devices (solar and heating thermostats). The hubs  UI has been painfully slow and the hub seemed to receive  numerous  automatic firmware updates over the last 18 months or so, one of which completely broke the WiFi connections to our heating thermostats and solar inverter Comms device.   A ' compatibility ' WiFi  channel became added to the hub firmware and I needed to create a new 'compatible' WiFi SSID and reconfigure various 2.4GHz devices in order to get them working again.

Over the last 6 months we noticed audio streaming to the hifi was playing up.  I had thought it was an update to the player app, maybe it still has something to do with that app, HOWEVER ...if the Android devices are connected to the compatibility WIFi SSID then it all works flawlessly!   It really seems to me the hubs main 5.8ghz WiFi SSID channel has some odd issues going on. ...

In theory its great to have a super fast 5.8Ghz WiFi connection to our devices but currently I have more things that can only work reliably on the 'compatibility'  WiFi channel !.    I'm now wondering if this may also have some connection to sporadic problems on certain streaming apps  on our smart LG TV????

I'm reasonably I.T savy however  the time I've spent sorting out various problems on this hub has been a joke..

I guess my advice is if you get problems and glitches , configure a compatibility WiFi SSID in the hub and then connect all devices to that.

Cheers Steve

@SteveinIoW1 Probably the best advice to use the compatible wireless as the main is rubbish since the Feb FW update!

Thanks for your interesting comment Jim ...it probably was around Feb when I first  noticed streaming problems.  I haven't had much free time to investigate this until today (most of the day wasted! .., tried older App APKs, Android updates, reinstalls etc etc but  I can now clearly see ALL of my mobile devices  only reliably stream when connected to the hubs 'compatible' WiFi channel .....maybe it's Android, maybe it's the music app?  however given all the FW and WiFi changes on this hub and your comments I am suspicious there is some WiFi oddity going on.

@SteveinIoW1 Was the reason i left Mar 5th after all that happened, with 13 months still to go!
