Hi everyone, I'm new to ee and have signed up to the 1.6 GB WiFi 7 package.
Ideally I'd like an extra wifi pro extender in place before I go live on 23rd Dec. Can I get one for free or do I have to go through the rigmarole of waiting until it's installed first to then tell ee the coverage isn't sufficient.
Due to the size of the house and configuration I need and want an extra extender. I did mention this on the phone and was told waiting until I see what it's like when installed.
Just another question, they are for sale on eBay. If I buy one do I need to contact ee for it to work, or should I be able to configure it myself.
Thanks in advance 🙂

@Sparkus-Oliver As per the terms and conditions, you need to wait and see what the 2 units give you when you first set it up, then call and see what can be done for you. If you wish to get one yourself then that is up to you. Kind of defeats the whole purpose.

Thanks for the reply Jim, I really appreciate it. . I’ll explain in a wee bit more detail just to see what you think and get your advice.
Getting the BT cable into the property was a nightmare so the cable is coming in to the living room at the far left side/corner of the house. So the hub will have to sit there. In the middle of the house downstairs I’ve a computer room (3 of my 4 kids game online) in that room there’s 2 pc’s and an Xbox/ps5. So I wanted one in there with the pcs on a wired connection. On a side note can I run a switch off the extender so all 4 can be hard wired? I presume it’s only got 2 ports on it.
That leaves me with the whole upstairs relying on signal from downstairs. There’s one bedroom upstairs with a PS5 that I would have also liked to be a wired connection.
I think I need the extra extender. I know I could wait and see, but I’m just trying to get ahead now.
I looked at boosters on Amazon like TP Link, but I’d rather have the ee one to match the other.
im on Virgin currently and using 3 WiFi pods from them, which they charge for. If I buy the ee one off eBay for example, is it free to use or do I have to contact them to get it to work?
sorry, lots of info. I’m just thinking to be ready for over the Christmas break. My whole house runs on WiFi, gamer kids, streaming, security system etc etc.

I think you'll get into problems if you try & mix diff types of extenders. When you 1st mentioned "they are for sale on eBay" I thought you meant the same Smart Wifi Pro extenders.

Thanks for the reply. Yes sorry, the extenders on eBay are the proper matching ee WiFi 7 extenders, that's what I'd like to have. I just missed one at 80 quid.
I was looking at TP link extenders on Amazon, but I'd prefer the ee one to keep it all the same.
Thanks

I think you would have to request the additional unit to be sent out when your service is activated, but I do not see the point in buying one externally when you will be able to get an additional unit from EE for no extra charge (even though you have to wait for it).
You will have to return your kit at the end of your contract, those for sale on eBay are units that should have been returned/should not have been resold and are still the property of EE with serial numbers so theoretically could be blocked at any time. In 24m time, when you have to return the kit, a lone WiFi extender isn't going to be of much use without the router.
