Wi-Fi 7 plus boosters

Has anyone got more than one successfully working on the network? I have 2 boosters but never got them both working at the same time, both tested and work, but one will only be usable at a time. One shows ‘online’ but no signal. This worked prior to adding another unit. Add the next unit and would show the same. Online no signal, reset and add again and then it does it to the other unit. Not sure if I am making sense?! Any advice appreciated!!

P.S network stability still shocking on zoom!

@Gonz2 If you are going to go down that route, then would just Factory reset both devices, and once done, attach the smart wireless to the EE Router, either wired or wireless which ever way you want to do it, and see what happens. If it works, then add one device to the wireless and see that it works to your satisfaction and as you expect.

If all is good, then go change the SSID and Password again, see if  both Router and Extender are happy after the reboot test connection again. If that is good, then all of the devices will reconnect as the SSID and Password for them are known.

Anything can happen, but can assure you that it is NOT the way that i have ever done it, and have been doing it for many many years.

I changed and setup my EE Router OOB not even connected to wireless day's ahead of the activation, set SSID and Password on the router to match the requirements, when activated by EE put router on the network, connected to EE and did zero else, every device connected as expected, had to set up the stupid app that is required and done.

@Gonz2 Router and Booster make and model, labels on bottom, what service do you have from EE, and link below for smart wireless setup and fault issues.

Thanks , will take a look at these again. Package is 1.6GB FTTP. Smart WiFi SW40J

Just read one of your responses to someone else and I am wondering if changing the router name causes all this agro… maybe a reset to default and manually add all 40+ devices on

Where are you checking the status of the extenders? The EE App or by browsing to Advanced > Wireless > Extenders in the Hub Manager at http://192.168.1.254? I'm wondering if it's an app display thing or not?

Is one of them definitely not working?

Restarted it all at 12 last night and allowed it the night to resettle. Everything works this morning. Bazaar. Looks like the restart did the trick. WiFi enhancement now shows not available.

update: now from being ok one booster shows as too close. It was fine before. I am going to end up going back to the BT hub and satellite boxes again for the 3rd time…

@Gonz2 You have considered the fact that you may just not need all the boosters that you have! Placement and the mesh is trying to work out best way forward for the environment that it is trying to operate in.

Hi,

I am having the same problem, I got an extra extender and this one is connecting, so aqua colour, and I can see it on the router management UI, but the connection type is N/A, and on the app says it has no signal. I changed the SSID for the WIFI network and the password as soon as I got the router and the initial Wifi 7 Smart Pro.

So, if I understand correctly, your solution is:

  • Reset all the three devices, router and both extenders, to factory settings.
  • Connect both extenders
  • Then reconfigure the SSID and password to my custom ones.

Can you confirm please?

I called EE, but they have just an hour waiting queue every time I call.

Cheers,

Jaime

Hi Jaime, I performed a full reset, changed the SSID and left it overnight and it sorted it self out… I would say reconnect it all and then allow the system to settle and see if it sorts itself out. May be due software updates as well. I still have zoom issues thou although it all says strong signal…
