What has happened to EE?

What has happened to EE? It used to be very good - at least that’s what the search engines said and still say. Yet I’ve never had a good experience of them and I’ve been with them 5 years tho. So perhaps my real question is how did they get a good reputation in the first place and how are they still ranked as the best?

They gaslight a lot. They insist their tests show broadband connection is excellent. I had to take screenshots of buffering and ‘contact your broadband supplier’ to get them to admit there was a problem. Happened every time.

I finally have enough and decide not to renew broadband with them - the above and their eye watering jump to £55 a month! Yeah renew offer of £30 with the caveat of an increase. Yeah pass thanks. What do they do? I’m sure nothing. The loss of internet connection the day after signing up to another service I’m sure is coincidental.

They have clearly outsourced their customer services abroad. In theory I have no problem with this. In practice it results in an awful experience.

If they are the best, I shudder at the worst!!

@Jrwk Do not think that the North of Ireland consider themselves as abroad in the slightest. Main support centre for EE/BT is in Belfast unless you get someone supporting and working from home.

Yeah I know they do have support based in the UK - UK being England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but they do outsource to places where English is a secondary language. Or maybe they just employ a lot of people for whom it is a secondary language. Kudos to those who do speak another language however unless fluent it can be a barrier - spoken or written.

My most recent experience I most definitely was not speaking to anyone in the UK. Not initially anyway. Did end up speaking to a helpful chap in England but only after I escalated my complaint.

Hi there @Jrwk

I am very sorry you have decided not to renew with us after experiencing problems with your broadband connection.

When is the broadband service being transferred to your new provider?

If you have lost connection before this date, do you have any lights showing on the router?

Our Why choose EE page has full information on our contact centres, they are based in the UK and Ireland

Thanks.

Leanne.

It was transferred today. Spoke to someone about the problem as soon as it occurred, they told me they’d not be able to sort it until the 28th or maybe December. So no, totally not interested. New supplier working perfectly. So will stick with them.

Calls not from abroad? Well can’t blame rudeness/ facetiousness on language difficulties then.  There goes that benefit of the doubt.
