We’ve just signed up for 500Mb full fibre with EE. We’re moving from G.network, with whom we’ve used their router in bridge mode, connected to our Linksys mesh routers so as to get coverage all over the house. I’m a bit concerned to read that EE’s routers can’t be put into bridge mode. I see some suggest using our Linksys router directly into the fibre but I don’t believe it includes a modem? Our house patchy signal before using mesh and I don’t want to have to sign up to EE’s router plan as it would be an additional cost we’d not budgeted for.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@michaelamherst Then as long as the linksys can be set will take a look for you, the FF info for EE is linked below for third party routers.

Edit: take a look on the linksys app, as long as you can see and set pppoe with it then user/password is all that would be needed. Linksys support is all with nothing download off manual etc. The below has some mention of pppoe if it is relevant.

@michaelamherst When you move to EE FF, do you have the need for either of the DV for a landline phone, or the use of EE TV package? The EE Smarthub+ or Pro routers DO NOT support modem only mode, but they DO NOT need to be used unless one of the two options earlier are required.

@michaelamherst The Openreach ONT is the modem, so all you need is for your first Linksys to be connected directly to the ONT, and set up as PPOE. More details in the following help pages. https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/using-and-configuring-a-third-party-router

Thank you both so much. We don’t have a landline with EE but will be using EE TV through the Apple TV 4K box. Can we still use our Linksys in that setup? Or will we not be able to do EE TV then?

@michaelamherst Not a TV / help, but as you are already asking questions on the TV part off the Forum pose that question to some off the user's there and see if guidance to what can be done with getting the EE side through the Apple TV box. Once you establish that fact then we can better guide, so two questions on the G.Network does it work just now TV wise, and also post up your Linksys Mesh network model, those really should not be an issue for connecting on your OR ONT though.

Thanks again @JimM11 I've spoken with EE technical and they say that as long as the Apple TV 4K box is connecting to EE broadband it should be fine, as we should be able to use any router. Our main router is the Linksys is an MX4000 series, with three child nodes of WHW03v2 models.

@michaelamherst Play safe, also setup the EE Smarthub+ router that you will get first that is the only one EE will support, once you got it online, let it update it's FW and then put it back in the box. Swap over your Velop plug it wan to the lan off the ont, setup the required and see where it all goes from there. Good luck with it all.👍
