Ubiquity Router for VPN

Hi all.  I have just moved from a Virgin Media connection to full fibre EE.  I had my virgin router set to modem mode so I could use my own router which has VPN's set up to other sites.  I can't find how to turn the EE Smart router to the same, any suggestions?  Many thanks 🙂

No, I said the pwd is HQNPASS123456.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi, thanks for that. I tried that first and thought maybe I had misread it. It must be the router settings that are incorrect. Thanks for your help

Oh right! Ok I misunderstood I didn’t realise it was HQNPASS………..

I’ll try that again, thank you 🙏

Still doesn’t work!

Have you read the BB Username exactly from the EE router?

@Matthew109 - I assume you probably have this covered as you're talking about usernames/passwords, but just in case - has the Ubiquity router been re-configured to use PPPoE? I believe a Virgin cable connection will use DHCP for the WAN connectivity which differs significantly to how things need configuring on EE.

Have you tried following the instructions here: https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/broadband-and-landline/home-broadband/how-do-i-use-my-own-router-for-...

As XRaySpecx said the ONT is the modem and connects to your router via an cat5e ethernet cable. The router connects via it's WAN port using PPPOE.  The user id and password can be found in the EE router (which downloads them on making the first connection.)  Failing that contact EE support who can advise the userid and password as per the above link.
