Switch to EE

Can somebody please enlighten me. I have to update my broadband to full fibre. BT and Plusnet both say it would be provided by EE so even though I register through one of these, would I actually become an EE customer and have to deal directly with them and say goodbye to my existing supplier?

@Puzzleface

I believe so. It’s what happened to me, although it was generated by the TV side. One by one my products on BT disappeared. After decades I’ve now no account w BT and EE provide my BB, TV, and SIMs.

Not a complete success, I have to say.

But if BT Group is your only option, you’ve no choice.

@Puzzleface  EE is for consumers and BT is for business users.

@Puzzleface : Yes, BT intends that EE will provide BB to all consumer users while it handles the business ones. However I thought the intention remains for PN to supply the cheaper end of the market. Otherwise I see no place for PN in the world.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

@Puzzleface  Who is your existing supplier?

Why do you have to upgrade to full fibre?

BT are focussing on business customers, PN do not offer voice services would be the only reasons for them to suggest EE. But there are other providers.

Interested to hear why you are asking?

I’ve been with Plusnet for 15 years. My son suggested I went full fibre as my broadband was v slow and I was at the end of my contract. Going full fibre was no more expensive and was told that eventually everyone will be moved over to fibre

@Puzzleface

You could leave it as it is (tho for how long that would be is 🤷🏼)  but if you want fibre it’ll be provided by EE and you’ll deal with them in future.

@Puzzleface DO you have a landline with PLUSNET at present, if so then that is the reason?

@Puzzleface   ok, I can understand the desire, or even need to go Full Fibre but you have not said what or why PN/BT are suggesting EE.

Other than if you have a phone service you want to keep and stay with the BT Group. There are of course plenty of other suppliers who can offer the same depending on when your current contract ends.
