Strange PS5 Pro download issue - EE 900 Core

Hello a strange one indeed,
I'm on EE's 900 core full fibre, using the Smart Hub 7 Plus SH35A with the latest firmware (confirmed by a quick Google search).

The speeds and pings are fine (confirmed on other devices and on my PS5 Pro via the connection test and in-game ping meters) yet downloading is impossible due to the fact it's stating it'll take hours to finish downloading. Earlier this week my PS5 Pro was working fine, my Series X and Switch 2 currently work even with this weird issue happening right now.

I use ethernet on all of my consoles and I even swapped the ethernet cable between my Series X and PS5 to rule out a router and/or ethernet cable problem yet the problem remains. Switching to wireless resulted in the exact same problem on my PS5 Pro - there was no difference. I even did a factory reset of my PS5 Pro which allowed me to download one game at normal speed before it slowed to an absolute crawl afterwards when the next queued item (only a 15gb DLC) resulted in the same lengthy time period.

I can only assume and make an uneducated guess that it's an issue between EE and PlayStation specifically - as my Series X and Switch 2 are downloading games perfectly fine without any problems at all.

Very curious, can anyone else replicate this with their own PS5 (Pro or regular)?

Thanks in advance.

@Gilly37 Ignore the securities warning, https://192.168.1.254 gets you there, phone but your choice what to access it with!

OP solution was posted, did that not work in your case?

hi yes ive tried turning off the allocation but had to turn bk on and it seemed to have fixed or reconnected the hub better download speed stable and flying again with multiple downloads tested with different games too

Thanks all

It seems EE don't care enough about their customers to put this right,
they've sent two "engineers" out, both of whom didn't access the router
settings, they ran a speed test already knowing that Im getting above 900
megabits and recommended that I spend money on extra equipment. It's a
settings issue, not a connection problem. They know I get 900 through my
old bt hub 2 but they want that back and are telling me I should use the
new hub 7 plus which isn't working. At this point I feel like I'm getting
nowhere with them, so I'm going to send the 7 plus back and continue using
my old one. Until I get package faster a gigabit, I don't need a router
capable of more, I just need one which delivers my bandwidth consistently.
If they have issues with me using my old router after returning the new
one, I'm gone. Ice always had great service from bt and EE right up until I
changed from 500 to 900, since that change they have made zero effort to
set my router up correctly.

try this it worked for me

Allocation mode settings haven't made any difference at all for me, tried
on two hub 7 plus devices but still seems the only thing which works is my
old BT hub 2.

@ReadyUpEm did you reboot everything (including the PS5) after making the changes? Devices may well hold onto the old IPv6 allocations until you do so.

Do you see the issue whether the PS5 is wired or wireless?

I have reset everything about 100 times at this point. Two ps5s and the
main tv are wired, phones and TV sticks upstairs are wireless. If I unplug
the cable from any port and plug it straight back in I get full speed until
one download has finished then following downloads don't work or are
extremely slow, I'm talking 75-125 hours for a 5gb file. If I unplug again
then plug back in everything is rapid again but only for one download. My
sons PS5 won't even make 300 megabit at any point whether wired or not, but
on my old hub every device in the house can pull files in at full speed.
The bandwidth on the 7 plus is never split evenly across devices either but
on the old bt hub 2 I can run multiple steams and multiple large downloads
with almost perfect distribution of bandwidth across all devices. I can set
up a download on both ps5s, 3 phones at the same time as streaming media,
an old PS4 (wireless) and a friend's Xbox (wireless) all at the same time
and every device performs like it should. Whereas on the 7 plus the only
things which work well are phones and fire sticks. My tv can barely play
YouTube on a wired connection without buffering every 10 seconds but again
on the old hub there's no problems at all.

Hi @ReadyUpEm

If this has continued after trying the reset, please get in touch with our tech guides and they can get this looked into for you.

Leanne.

I've been in touch 5 times and had two engineers out, nothing has been
done.
