So, I take it that there has never been an answer to this question that does not involve using a Smart Phone to configure the Device Names?
I just upgraded today to a Smart3 - I have been putting it off but got persuaded that I need to do it due to needing a Digital Phone next year where I have been using an analogue for years. Plus I now get about half the speed I had yesterday on the internet connection
Why does it feel like this "upgrade" is a step backwards

Oh, and the App doesn't work with my phone anyway, too old.
Looks like they want me to buy a new Mobile phone as well

@steve_S_brook You are correct, there is no way to do rename of a device unless you use the app to do so. You also should not be getting half of what you had previous, so what is going on with that particular issue you halve.
What Router did you halve previous to what you got now?

I have/had a Smart 2 Router but my Contract is due to run out. They tell me they are switching off PSTN in this area and I have had to go with a new contract on a new connection. Until they put in full fibre (which openreach had said they had done, but didn't). The new connection is only getting half the speed, but I now have Digital Phone connection (Business Account) Currently I am with BT but they are transitioning to EE. The Smart Routers are the same so I came here looking for answers as there are none on the BT Forum. I believe I was on FTTC, but seem to be on ADSL at the moment. Gone from 140 Down to around 68 Down. Had to go with them to keep my Phone Number and Fixed IP Address. I may well have been scammed by BT, but if the Service does not improve in January, then I may well look at going back to Virgin . It is just a pain when you are trying to run a small business 🙂

@steve_S_brook : You won't get 68 Meg on ADSL. You must still be in FTTC.
If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:
1. Post your full router stats:
Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.
2. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

My apologies, I mistyped that, it is of course DSL at a max of 80/20
Sadly the BT checker is not much use as the exchange is WLR - a withdrawal Exchange so limited at the moment. They claim FTTP is available which it is not yet. So I do appear to be getting the max now because they could not sell me the same package I had previously

@steve_S_brook You may wish to check the OR Fibre checker below as it is saying fibre is available, then go find which ISP are supplying if any at present.

Yes, Openreach say it is available. - BT say they are fibbing currently, it was supposed to be but it is running late. The reason I want to stay with BT Business is because I want to keep my current Phone Number and also my Current Static IP addresses. Obviously BT are kicking all the Broadband over to EE, so maybe they aren't that bothered. I'll see how it goes for now, but I may have to change in the end and lose my phone No. and rebuild some equipment with Static IP's ... we shall see 🙂

@steve_S_brook Do not see what your issue is BT Business is a completely different BB division you are not a home product.

As I said I only came here to find out if the Smart3 is capable of renaming Devices ... and it seems it isn't
