Plugged my laptop into my Smart Hub Plus via Ethernet earlier this evening and simply cannot achieve speeds of over 370 mbps (900mbps package). I have tried all 4 LAN ports and they all produce the same results. I have switched from Cat5e to 6 to 7 and this has no bearing on the speed. Plus I’ve reset the hub and power cycled it and this has no effect. I have checked technical logs and there’s nothing unusual. Any help greatly appreciated as I’m tearing my hair out!

@JimM11 dont believe so, how would I find that out?

@Colesey What is your adapter make/model or post a pic of it, your laptop will have various usb ports, there is nearly always a usb2 port for slower speeds and getting software installed, then possible number of higher speed ports, but these are also like nic's backward compatible, just as your 2.5Gb/s nic negotiated with the router and set it self at 1000/1000. USB can do the same. Is you laptop nic just on the side of your laptop, not many have more than Gbyte ports but newer may have.

@JimM11 im simply plugging an Ethernet cable from the lan port on the SH+ to the LAN port on my laptop. As far I’m aware USB isn’t involved… my adapter is Rivert Networks Killer E2500 Ethernet controller.
I’ve managed 900mbps on this laptop before and oh yeah I was using the Smart Hub 2….

@Colesey Got it, do you happen to have a switch that you can put between the laptop and router, would also have a look to see if there was a update to the nic since you last did your good speed test.

@JimM11 I don’t unfortunately. I do have an Xbox Series X I could test as I think that has a 1Gb Ethernet port. If the speed is the same as it is on the laptop then surely there’s an issue with the hub??

@Colesey When you speed test, it's best to have only one thing connected and doing so, you just do not know what is going on, so if you do the x box test, then have wifi devices disconnected if possible and only the x box live on the ethernet, but it also does not 100% follow, if your laptop on wireless is doing 900mb/s.

@JimM11 So I did a speed test on the Xbox and it’s getting the full 900mbps download speed with minimal latency so no issue with the hub or the cable so must be my laptop causing the issue!

@Colesey You are correct, now you know the router is fine, you just have to look see what is going on with the laptop.
